Sir Mark Elder Honoured at Sheffield City Hall

Sheffield City Hall recently celebrated the illustrious career of Sir Mark Elder, marking his retirement as Music Director of the Hallé after 24 remarkable years. In a heartfelt gesture, Sheffield City Trust and Sheffield City Council presented Sir Mark with a bespoke piece of art, designed by Sheffield artist Jen Ricketts and containing 200 grams of Sheffield silver, hallmarked by the Sheffield Assay Office. Sir Mark was deeply touched by the gift, immediately calling the artist to express his gratitude.

As Sir Mark Elder prepares for his final performance as Music Director at the Royal Albert Hall as part of The Proms, the entire Hallé family will join him, making history and paying tribute to his incredible contribution to music.
